Nikolaj Lie Kaas
Biography
Nikolaj Lie Kaas is a Danish actor who completed his studies at Denmark's National Theater School in 1998. Born on May 22, 1973, he made his screen debut in The Boys from St. Petri (1991) as Otto, a traitor's son whose growing moral opposition turns into violent rebellion. That part brought him two Danish film awards, a Robert and a Bodil. He won another Bodil for playing Jeppe in Lars Von Trier's The Idiots (1998), a man who finds love and then loses it. In China They Eat Dogs (1999) let him parody his image as a carefree cook employed by a mob-like boss during a killing spree, while in Flickering Lights (2000) he was a man hopelessly in love. He later headlined Truly Human (2001) as Ahmed, a working couple's aborted son who is brought to life after his would-be sister Lisa dies, and who then struggles to become fully human.
