Mad Ship (2013) on Netflix

Plot summary

Tomas Sorenson, his wife Solveig, their son Petter and their baby daughter Liv live on the Manitoba prairie, where they came from Norway. Solveig did not want to emigrate, afraid she would never see her father again, but Tomas was certain there was arable land in America and a better life on it. Two years of drought in the growing season have left the farm in debt to the bank, and one more natural disaster convinces Tomas he must find work elsewhere. Solveig would rather return to Norway, but they cannot afford the passage. Tomas leaves Petter and Liv with their mother and goes to look for work, which leaves Solveig to deal with Mr. Cameron from the bank. Tomas finds work, though his employers Edmund and Adeline have an unhappy marriage.
