Marv Albert
Biography
Marv Albert is a former American sportscaster who called New York Knicks games for decades. Born in Brooklyn, he began as a ball boy for the Knicks and called his first game for the team in 1963 on WCBS Radio, covering for his mentor Marty Glickman. Starting in 1967, he spent 37 years broadcasting Knicks games on radio and television. He was NBC's lead announcer for NBA games from 1990 to 2002 and later took the same role for TNT, and his credits include eight Super Bowls, seven Stanley Cup Finals and nine NBA Finals, along with New York Rangers games and NFL coverage. The Basketball Hall of Fame honored his work, and he received a Curt Gowdy Media Award in 1997 and entered the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2015. He retired after the 2021 NBA playoffs.
