Larry Hagman
Biography
Larry Hagman was an American actor, born in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Broadway actress Mary Martin. He started on stage in 1950 at the Woodstock Playhouse, took a part in a London staging of South Pacific, and served in the Air Force before returning to New York for off Broadway work and his Broadway debut in Comes a Day. Television gave him early roles, including The Edge of Night, and his first films were Ensign Pulver and Fail Safe. He became a star as astronaut Anthony Nelson on I Dream of Jeannie from 1965 to 1970, then as J.R. His films included Harry and Tonto (1974), The Eagle Has Landed (1976), S.O.B. (1981), Nixon (1995) and Primary Colors (1998). He also directed Beware! The Blob (1972).

First role
Hagman's first television role came in 1957, playing Kenneth Davidson in the syndicated crime drama Decoy. The episode was titled "Saturday Lost," and Beverly Garland starred as television's first female police officer in a lead role.
