Doucette was the first Theater Major at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, after graduating from Marquette University High School in the mid-1960s.
Big break
Doucette moved to Chicago in 1974 and joined The Second City improv theater. There he met Ernst Emling, and the two formed the comedy duo Jeff and Ernst.

While at Second City, Doucette met Ernst Emling and the two created the comedy duo Jeff and Ernst. Improv teacher Del Close mentored them, the William Morris Agency signed them, and they toured the U.S. with folk singer Bob Gibson, later opening larger venues for acts such as Barry Manilow and The Spinners.
Getting ready for a role
Doucette has played Benjamin Franklin in commercials for El Monterrey breakfast foods, Ballpark's Finest Hot Dogs, Quicken Loans and the Chevrolet Volt. He also turned up as Franklin in a special appearance on Mike & Molly.
