Jackson Beck
Biography
Jackson Beck was an American actor born in Manhattan whose voice work ranged from radio announcing to animated cartoons. His early radio experience included stations WINS and WHN in New York City, and he was working on Myrt and Marge by 1931. In 1943 he became the announcer for radio's The Adventures of Superman and narrated several of the 1940s Superman animated shorts. His other radio roles included Joseph Stalin on The March of Time, the Cisco Kid from 1942 to 1945, and Philo Vance in a syndicated series. At Famous Studios he voiced Bluto in the Popeye cartoons, and on television he played Perry White in Filmation's The New Adventures of Superman. Beck narrated Woody Allen's Take the Money and Run (1969) and the comedy Cry Uncle! (1971), and voiced Brutus in Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977). He narrated the 1980s G.I. Joe animated series. He died in 2004.
