Plot summary

A scientist demonstrates an experimental magnetic telescope, a machine that draws objects down from space. It pulls a comet toward Earth, which crashes through the town and falls into the ocean. After the crash, public opinion turns against the experiments, but the scientist argues that his research matters more than the danger it poses to people. Despite warnings, he uses the telescope again, this time on a full comet. Police force a metal bar into the generator and chop its main wires with axes. With the comet beyond his control, it races toward the town. Only Superman can stop it.
