Plot summary
On a frontier planet light years from Earth, the year is 3031, and the town of Oblivion is targeted by Red Eye, a bandit who wants to make it his own playground. In a street showdown, he uses a prized substance that shorts out electrical devices to cheat, killing Marshal Stone and disabling the marshal's cyborg deputy, Stell. Red Eye and his gang then pressure the townspeople to accept his control. Gaunt, the town's mortician, can foresee deaths. He goes looking for Zack, the marshal's son, who is away prospecting in the wilderness. Zack rescues Buteo, a native, from a giant scorpion, and the two join forces. Gaunt arrives with news of the marshal's death, and they all set out for Oblivion to attend the funeral.
