Ione Skye

Biography

Ione Skye is a British-American actress who grew up in Los Angeles and San Francisco after being born in Hampstead, London. She made her film debut in a supporting role in River's Edge (1986) and took the title part in The Rachel Papers (1989), but her breakthrough came as the withdrawn high school valedictorian Diane Court in Cameron Crowe's Say Anything... (1989), which became a cult favorite and brought her international recognition. She worked through the 1990s in films such as Gas Food Lodging (1992), Wayne's World (1992) and One Night Stand (1997), and had a small, well-received part in David Fincher's Zodiac (2007). Her television work includes Covington Cross, The Twilight Zone, Private Practice and Arrested Development. Skye also paints, wrote the children's book My Yiddish Vacation, and directed a music video for Against Me!. VH1 ranked her 84th among its 100 Greatest Teen Stars in 2006.
