Plot summary
Frankie works at Cafe Blue Eyes, her uncle Leo's San Francisco cafe, named for Frank Sinatra. She is looking for an ideal lover, blue eyes preferred, and goes to auditions with her friend Allison. Insomnia has kept her awake through the night since she was a child, when her parents died in a car accident, so she spends the dark hours reading. A writer named David Shrader starts working there. Frankie falls for him, he tries to cure her sleeplessness, she reads what he writes, and the two swap philosophical lines and try to name their sources.
