Hayden Rorke
Biography
Hayden Rorke was an American actor whose best-known part was Dr. Alfred E. Bellows, the NASA medical officer and Air Force colonel in I Dream of Jeannie. Born in Brooklyn in 1910, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, then started stage work during the 1930s at the Hampden Theatrical Company. He served in the United States Army during World War II and made an uncredited film debut in This Is the Army. After the war he took small Broadway parts and returned to Hollywood for Lust for Gold (1949), then was credited in Rope of Sand (1949). He also appeared in An American in Paris (1951), which won an Academy Award, and in Father's Little Dividend (1951). On television he had guest roles in I Love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, and Perry Mason. He returned as Dr. Bellows in the 1985 television film I Dream of Jeannie... Fifteen Years Later. He died in 1987.
