Eric Braeden

Eric Braeden is a German-American actor whose screen career has spanned both film and television. He was born in Bredenbek, Germany, and first worked under his birth name, Hans Gudegast, taking guest spots in series such as Combat!, where he typically portrayed German soldiers, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. A regular part as Captain Hans Dietrich on The Rat Patrol followed from 1966 to 1968. He played a German officer in the Western 100 Rifles (1969), then adopted his stage name for the lead in Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970). His later films include Escape from the Planet of the Apes, from 1971, in which he played Dr. Otto Hasslein, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977), and Titanic (1997). Since 1980 he has played Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, a role that brought him ten Daytime Emmy nominations and a win in 1998.
