Plot summary
Aspiring comic book artist Josh Baker meets Cheryl on the streets of New York City. After a brief flirtation she collapses, and an old ambulance carries her away. The ambulance never reaches the local hospital. When Josh goes to visit her, there is no record that she was ever admitted, and none of the other hospitals in the area has one either. Cheryl's roommate then vanishes after a ride in the same ambulance. Doubted by the police and discouraged by Lt. Spencer, Josh begins a one-man investigation to learn where the vehicle takes the people it collects, and why no hospital ever sees them.
