Connie Sawyer
Biography
Connie Sawyer was an American actress who worked in stage, film, and television for 85 years. Born Rosie Cohen in Pueblo, Colorado, she grew up in Oakland, California, and began performing as a child after her mother entered her in singing and dancing contests. A radio contest win led to a San Francisco variety show and helped her build a comedy routine. She moved to New York at 19 and worked in nightclubs and vaudeville. In the 1950s she started appearing on television, including The Milton Berle Show and The Jackie Gleason Show. On Broadway she played Miss Wexler in A Hole in the Head and repeated the role in the 1959 film. She had more than 140 film and television credits and was best known for Pineapple Express, Dumb and Dumber, and When Harry Met Sally. Her later films included Lovesick (2014) and Entanglement. She died in 2018, when she was described as the oldest working actress in Hollywood.
