Christian McKay

Christian McKay is an English actor for stage and screen who was born in Bury, Lancashire, and trained as a concert pianist before enrolling at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He portrayed the conductor Pierre Monteux in the BBC production Riot at the Rite in 2005 and made his film debut in Abraham's Point in 2008. Richard Linklater cast him as Orson Welles in Me and Orson Welles (2008), his first lead role, and he earned critical praise plus a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor among more than two dozen award nominations. He has also appeared in Rush (2013), the BAFTA-nominated Northern Soul (2014), Florence Foster Jenkins (2016) and The Theory of Everything. On stage he played Welles in the one-man show Rosebud: The Lives of Orson Welles and appeared in Strangers on a Train at London's Gielgud Theatre in 2013.
