Arnold Diamond
Biography
Arnold Diamond was an English character actor who trained at RADA, graduating in 1936, and worked for decades in theater, television and film. A native of West Ham, he acted for three years in the West End run of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, between 1954 and 1957, and also performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. On television he was given many small parts, including Krelmar in a 1967 episode of The Avengers, and he tended to be cast as foreigners or policemen. The part he was best known for was probably Colonel Latignant in the 1960s ITC series The Saint, opposite Roger Moore, a character who appeared more than once during the show's long run. Late in his career he played Mr Rabinsky, a neighbor in the BBC sitcom In Sickness and in Health. Diamond died in 1992.
