Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The final duel was the hardest scene in the film for director Keishi Ōtomo to shoot, because Takeru Satoh and Tatsuya Fujiwara performed the fight without using stunts.
- Plans for another Rurouni Kenshin sequel surfaced in 2017 around lead actress Emi Takei's breach of contract after her marriage to Exile's Takahiro and her pregnancy; her agency Oscar Promotion negotiated penalties that could have reached 1 billion yen (about US$9.11 million).
- Takeru Satoh said Kenshin's attack names after performing each move, rather than shouting them while striking as the character does in the manga and the anime.
