Plot summary
Kamui is a young ninja who has abandoned his clan and now travels alone, with assassins never far behind. His road leads to a village on the seashore, where he meets Hanbei, a fisherman whose sense of honor matches his own. Hanbei's wife keeps her distance from the stranger, but the fisherman and Kamui become friends, and for a while the days by the water are quiet. Kamui does not keep that peace for long: the life he left behind is closing in on him, and he must draw on the shadow arts he was trained in.
