Plot summary
A virus carried in the water has turned San Francisco's people into zombies. Dr. Lynn Snyder and other survivors take refuge on Alcatraz Island. On the mainland, the scientist Dr. Arnold carries out experiments aimed at a cure, and Snyder is in contact with him. Also among the refugees is Dr. Dan Halpern, who studies parts taken from zombie bodies. Because the ones he has are dead already, his research barely advances. Captain Caspian and other survivors burn the zombie corpses stored on the island, setting his work back further.
