Plot summary
In 1978, Australian activists fighting to decriminalize homosexuality have run out of momentum. The story follows the country's gay rights movement through the eyes of Lance Gowland, a former union boss who has become a dedicated campaigner. He and other activists decide there must be one last public celebration of who they are. Alongside the organizing, Gowland is working through his own sexuality and juggling his job, his family and his relationships. The group gets a police permit and spreads news of a march through Sydney. On a freezing winter night, they put on fancy dress, join hands, and walk down Oxford Street.
