Plot summary
A Yale graduate, Dan Brooks works for J.L. Higgins, whose daughter Margaret he is expected to marry. His real interest is Broadway Bill, the horse he owns. Dan performs poorly at the box-making business, so he leaves town with Whitey, his groom, and takes Bill to the Imperial Derby, though the entry fee must be found first. Dan and his friend Professor Pettigrew each try to cheat the other, and when they cannot pay a restaurant check they sing the Yale school song. Alice, Margaret's younger sister, secretly in love with Dan, offers him money she raises by pawning her belongings.

- The songs in this black-and-white musical racetrack film, which features Bing Crosby, were performed live during filming instead of the customary lip-synching to studio recordings.
