Rand Brooks
Biography
Rand Brooks, born in 1918, was an American film and television actor who began his screen career after a test at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer led to a bit part in Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938). His breakthrough came as Charles Hamilton in Gone with the Wind (1939), though he later disliked the role. He followed it with smaller parts in films such as Babes in Arms (1939) and then played Lucky in the Hopalong Cassidy Westerns in the mid-1940s, taking over from Russell Hayden. Variety praised his work in Fool's Gold, and he appeared in a dozen of the half-hour Hopalong Cassidy television episodes. In 1948 he starred with Marilyn Monroe and Adele Jergens in Ladies of the Chorus (1948), and later played Cpl. Randy Boone in The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin. He also guest-starred in Western series including Gunsmoke and Bonanza, and directed and produced Bearheart, released in 1978 as Legend of the Northwest.
