Plot summary
Frank Nitzche is a jaded former lawyer who has built a trade around death row inmates: he befriends them and sells their final letters to the media. His latest client is Charlotte Cory, a woman awaiting execution, and he works on her case while trying to build a relationship with her. He becomes convinced that she is innocent, and he finds information that raises questions about the motives of a man involved in the matter.
