Mark Ryan is an English performer who has worked as an actor, author, singer and action director, and he is best known for his voice work in the Transformers film series. A change of course
Before entering entertainment, Ryan was part of the British Army's Intelligence Corps, attached to DSF (Director Special Forces), and afterward he worked in the United States as a licensed private investigator.
Big break
Ryan started on the 2007 movie Transformers while it was being filmed, serving as the on-set voice for several different robots. That work went on through filming and editing, before voice-over talent was cast, and he was later cast as Bumblebee.
Own stunts
In 2003, Mark Ryan served on Antoine Fuqua's King Arthur as swordmaster and fight director. He helped design the knights' fighting styles and trained principals such as Keira Knightley, Clive Owen and Stellan Skarsgård.
Beyond film
Ryan toured U.S. theaters in 2000 alongside Eric Idle, an original member of Monty Python, taking comedy parts in Eric Idle Exploits Monty Python. The tour stopped at New York's Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.
Behind the camera
In late 2008, Ryan started a musical version of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, with Ray Winstone narrating. He wrote, sang and produced the songs alongside Robb Vallier, and directed the video for the track Women.
