Plot summary
A drunken car crash years earlier nearly took Tommy Carter's life, and he has remade himself as a therapist and spiritual advisor who blends world religions with positivity. The success of his book brings him a new client, Angel Sanchez, a profoundly troubled man preoccupied with his mother's death. Angel needs far more than a life coach, and visions of his dead mother plague him. Carter holds a seance so that Angel can say goodbye to her, and Angel suffers a mild breakdown. Carter then tells him he can no longer treat him. Carter had taken the client on to raise money for Ben, his brother, who is in debt.
