Dick Durock
Biography
Dick Durock was an actor and stuntman who, after a stint in the Marine Corps and a short time as a computer programmer, moved to Hollywood and built a long career in film and television. His first work came in 1967, doubling for Guy Williams during the last season of Lost in Space. His rough features and powerful build often led to roles as thugs, but he won cult fame as the kind-hearted mutant superhero in Wes Craven's Swamp Thing (1982), reprising the part in The Return of Swamp Thing (1989) and a spin-off cable series. His other screen roles included a terrorist in The Enforcer (1976), the fighter who takes on Clint Eastwood early in Any Which Way You Can, and Bill Travis in Stand by Me. He also performed stunts in many movies and guest-starred on numerous TV shows. He died in 2009.
