Plot summary
A military plane crashes outside the town of Ruby and a genetically engineered reticulated python, built from several snake species, gets loose in the woods. John Cooper, his girlfriend Kristin, and their friends Tommy and Theresa are swimming when Deputy Greg Larston takes away a Burmese python the group recognizes as Lisa Johnson's pet and tells them Lisa is missing. NSA Special Agent Bart Parker comes to recapture the creature with Anton Rudolph, the scientist who helped create it, as his guide; Anton describes the python's corrosive stomach acid and says Parker's men are not equipped for it. When Lisa's body is found with acid burns, suspicion falls on John, who works at a plating plant that uses acid.
