Plot summary
Bounty hunter Charlie McFadden is about to fire at the last two Krite eggs when a hologram of Ug tells him that wiping out a species breaks intergalactic law. Charlie puts the eggs in a preservation pod, the hatch shuts on him, and he is launched into deep space and frozen. More than fifty years later, in 2045, a salvage crew hauls the pod aboard their ship. Captain Rick Buttram, engineer Al Bert, pilot Fran, cargo specialist Bernie and apprentice Ethan take a job from TerraCor's Councilor Tetra to carry it to a station.
