Plot summary
Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres keep the world's climate in balance, and a collector named Lawrence III intends to have all three for himself, hunting them from a flying fortress over the Orange Islands. Ash Ketchum, Misty and Tracey Sketchit are crossing those islands when a storm washes them ashore on Shamouti Island, where the inhabitants are holding their annual festival. The festival names Ash the Chosen One of an old prophecy, and its maiden, Melody, explains what that means: he must carry three crystal balls from the islands of the legendary birds to Shamouti's shrine. In Pallet Town, Professor Oak sees Pokémon behaving strangely and flies toward the Orange Islands with Ash's mother, Delia Ketchum.
