Plot summary
Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki are Soul Reapers, soldiers whose job is to carry the dead's souls out of the living world and into Soul Society, and to battle Hollows, monstrous lost souls that human eyes cannot see and that can hurt ghosts and people alike. After the pair defeat one such creature in a park, ghost-like spirits nobody can identify start showing up in Karakura Town. A Soul Reaper named Senna arrives and destroys most of them. When Ichigo and Rukia question her, she gives no answers and leaves. Ichigo goes after Senna, while Rukia travels back to Soul Society to search for information.
