Plot summary
Pam Hoog arrives at a school as its new history teacher and finds a class of young adults who have no respect for her or for one another. She comes to the position primed to succeed and devises a clever curriculum. Her family has produced one loser after another, and she means that legacy to stop with her. Strength of character and determination are what she intends to rely on as she makes a different path and a different destiny for herself and her son. That class still has to be won over. The town is troubled and in need of healing.
