Plot summary

The harbor town of Anabaru finds the Straw Hat Pirates short of money, with Luffy running up a tab of meals. Nami notices a pirate paying the bar's host for directions, and she buys the same information, which leads the crew through a back door and a tunnel into an underground chamber full of pirate crews. Food and drink are laid out, and the gathering is the starting point of the Dead End Race, an anything-goes sailing competition held every few years with 300,000,000 Belli for the winner, enough to clear the crew's debts. Among the entrants are two giants, a crew of fish-men, the bounty hunter Shuraiya Bascùd and Gasparde, a former naval officer turned pirate whose bounty is far higher than Luffy's.
