Plot summary
Claire Clauster spends the year planning a perfect Christmas for her husband Nick, their three children Channing, Taylor and Sammy, and the family's guests, who arrive two days before the holiday. Channing brings her husband Doug Austin and their twins, Taylor brings a girlfriend named DJ Sweatpants, and Sammy is morose after his partner Mae-bell dumps him. Claire hopes someone will nominate her for a Best Holiday Mom contest whose prize is a trip to Burbank to meet the talk show host Zazzy Tims, and she tries to outdo the gift of her neighbor Jeanne Wang-Wasserman. When the family heads to a Christmas-themed dance show she got tickets for without her, she drives away.
