Plot summary
Josh Parker is newly divorced and works as chief technology officer at Zenotek's Chicago branch, which his friend Clay Vanstone manages. Carol Vanstone, Clay's sister, has taken over as interim chief executive after their father's death, and she resents that the company went to Clay. When the branch misses its quarterly quota, Carol threatens to shut it down unless Clay calls off the annual Christmas party and the bonuses. Clay tells her about a meeting with Walter Davis of Data City over a fourteen million dollar contract, and Carol agrees to spare the branch if he lands it. Tracey Hughes, who leads research and development, joins the pitch. Walter likes the product but questions the company's culture, so Clay invites him to the party. Meanwhile, Carol offers Josh a job in New York at double his pay.
