Plot summary
Anne Garrison is head toy buyer for Sinclair's, a New York department store chain, where she buys mostly high tech toys rather than the wooden ones her father Bill carves at Garrison's Toys in North Bay, Maine. She comes home three weeks before Christmas to help Bill close the shop and sell the property before he moves to Connecticut. Keith McClain, the general manager of the town's lumber mill, is raising his ten-year-old daughter Jessie near his late wife's family, and the mill's owner is considering selling. A town Christmas committee makes Anne and Keith co-chairs of the tree lighting, the carnival and the pageant, and Anne agrees to coach Jessie as well.
