Arlene Duncan

Arlene Duncan, a Canadian actress and singer, has worked in music, theater, film and television. Born in Oakville, Ontario, she trained in musical theater at Sheridan College. Her debut single, I Wanna Grove, earned her the Female Vocalist of the Year honor at the 1983 Canadian Black Music Awards. On stage, her credits include Sophisticated Ladies, A Raisin in the Sun and The Who's Tommy, and her performance in Caroline, or Change brought a 2012 Dora Mavor Moore Award for outstanding female performance in a musical. Duncan is best known for playing Fatima, a diner owner, on the CBC comedy Little Mosque on the Prairie. Her portrayal of Harriet Tubman in the CBC special All for One brought her an ACTRA Award, and she returned to that role in the 1995 CBS program Sing Out, Freedom Train. Other television work includes Degrassi: The Next Generation, Suits and Diggstown, and she appeared in A Dog's Journey (2019).
