Plot summary

Autumn Callahan, seventeen, lives in rural Pennsylvania and begins to suspect she is pregnant. A crisis pregnancy center confirms it with a drugstore test and tells her she is ten weeks along, handing her adoption literature and an anti-abortion video. She learns that Pennsylvania requires a parent's consent for an abortion. Her attempts to end the pregnancy on her own, by swallowing pills and striking her stomach, come to nothing, and she finally tells her cousin Skylar. Skylar takes cash from the grocery store where the two of them work and buys bus tickets. On the ride to New York City, a young man named Jasper keeps pressing Skylar for attention, though she tries to brush him off.
