Sharon Van Etten
Biography
Sharon Van Etten is an American musician who writes and performs her own songs and has also built a career as an actress. Born in Belleville, New Jersey and raised in the state, she put out handmade CDs on her own before her debut album, Because I Was in Love, arrived in 2009. A run of records followed, among them Epic, Tramp, Are We There, Remind Me Tomorrow and We've Been Going About This All Wrong, and in 2025 she released Sharon Van Etten and the Attachment Theory, which earned universal praise on Metacritic. Her guitar-led early work gave way to the synthesizers, drums and experimental sounds of Remind Me Tomorrow. She composed the score for Strange Weather (2016), played Rachel in the Netflix mystery drama The OA, and made her feature debut in Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020), later appearing in How It Ends (2021).
