Plot summary
Dylan is 21, works construction in rural New Mexico, and saves for an RV to see the country while helping to support his younger brother Cassidy and their alcoholic mother, Fiona. Pepe recruits him for temporary farmwork at the House of Splendor, a ranch whose queer residents live peacefully. Dylan notices Pepe's girlfriend Sky and feels drawn to her. Fiona spots a rainbow flag on the property and urges Dylan to stay away from the ranch's residents. At a superstore, Dylan finds a group of them; Sky applies eyeshadow on him and invites him to a rodeo. He agrees, then flees the store ashamed of the makeup. Cassidy helps him remove it at home, and Dylan asks him to keep it secret from Fiona.
