Edna Holland
Biography
Edna Holland was an American actress whose stage, film, and television work spanned from the early 1900s until 1965. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of a comedian and an actress, and as a child she appeared in productions staged by David Belasco. She began making silent films in 1915, among them The Masked Rider, Mary Moreland, The Feud Girl, and Always in the Way. During that era she was frequently cast as the other woman, playing opposite stars such as Mary Miles Minter. After nearly twenty years away from the screen, during which she performed many stage roles, she returned to films in the late 1930s. In middle age she often played professional women, including teachers, nurses, and secretaries, in supporting or minor parts. Her final television appearance was on The Andy Griffith Show in 1966.
