Plot summary
Mr. Jones charms his way onto a construction crew, then a manic episode takes hold and he climbs out onto the building, announcing that he can fly. A fellow worker, Howard, pulls him back, and he is taken to a psychiatric hospital, where he is medicated, diagnosed as schizophrenic, and released. Budget cuts have left the hospital, run by Dr. Catherine Holland, short of space. Dr. Elizabeth Bowen takes an interest in his case as he checks out, while she is dealing with a divorce and with her other patients. Another manic episode follows: Jones spends freely on a date and climbs onto a stage during a concert, and he is arrested and sent back to the hospital.
