Plot summary
RAF squadron leader Quint Munroe loses his close friend and fellow pilot Scotty Scott, shot down over a German V-1 launching site in the summer of 1944 and presumed killed. Quint comforts Scotty's wife Beth, and the two rekindle an earlier romance. Air Commodore Hufford then hands Quint a fresh assignment: reconnaissance over the Château de Charlon in occupied France, where the Nazis appear to be building a new generation of flying bombs behind unusually heavy defenses. Photographs of the grounds show an underground launching tunnel. Quint is given ten days to select and train a team to drop a bouncing bomb into the tunnel and destroy the installation, while the French resistance watches for the first launch. Beth's brother Douglas Shelton, a flight lieutenant who lost a hand in combat, joins the team.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Mosquito Squadron (1969)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The Highball weapon in the film was a real development of Barnes Wallis's “dam-busting” Upkeep bomb, and the shots of Mosquitoes dropping Highballs on land are genuine WWII archive footage, although Highball was never used in combat.
- The film slips historically when Charles Gray's character mentions Barnes Wallis in his briefing as though the name were well known to RAF personnel; Wallis was not publicly identified as the Upkeep inventor until after the war.
- The raid in the film echoes Operation Jericho, a combined RAF-Maquis raid that freed French prisoners from Amiens prison and in which the Mosquitos took part.
- Although not a sequel, the film borrowed footage from the 1964 film 633 Squadron, and its entire pre-title sequence, including the opening music, was taken from the WWII film Operation Crossbow.
