Plot summary
Corrie and Betsie ten Boom are sisters in middle age who work in their father's watchmaker shop in Holland. Their father, Casper, known as Papa, runs the shop with them. When the Nazis invade the Netherlands in 1940, the family, devout Christians, decides to give Jews a hiding place in their home, trusting that God will help them. Members of the Dutch resistance remodel part of the house into a hidden room where the Jews can escape during a Nazi raid. On one occasion the family allows the hidden Jews to sing loudly enough to disturb the neighbors, but the Jews remain safely hidden.

- The 1975 world premiere at the Beverly Theatre in Beverly Hills was disrupted when a tear gas canister marked with a swastika was thrown into the theater, forcing the crowd to evacuate; Billy Graham held an impromptu street meeting while police and fire departments investigated.
- According to Billy Graham's autobiography, his wife, Ruth Graham, met Corrie ten Boom in Switzerland and was so impressed by her story that she recommended it to authors John and Elizabeth Sherrill, who then co-wrote the book The Hiding Place with ten Boom.
