Plot summary
In 2011, astronauts Brian Harper and Jo Fowler are on a shuttle mission to repair a satellite when an alien swarm attacks the orbiter. Brian brings the crippled shuttle home, but NASA dismisses his account and fires him. A decade later, K.C. Houseman, a conspiracy theorist who argues the Moon is an artificial megastructure, gets into a research telescope and finds its orbit bending toward Earth. NASA registers the same anomaly, K.C. posts his findings anonymously, and panic spreads. Jo, now NASA's deputy director, sends a spacecraft to investigate. As the Moon falls, earthquakes and gravitational disturbances batter the planet, and K.C. seeks out Brian, the one astronaut who saw what the swarm did.
