Plot summary
In 2524, the Alliance governs Earth, Zafdie and Ellora, four centuries after humans first settled the outer planets. On the mining planet 4217LYA, workers encounter aliens they cannot see, and infected survivors turn violently hostile. General Eron Ryle summons retired General James Ford, still known as the Blood General for a quantum bomb he dropped on the rebel colony of Zafdie, along with Doctor Lea Goss, the wife who left him afterward. Ryle mounts Operation Cosmic Sin: Ford, Goss, Dash, Bleck, Braxton and technician Ardene travel to Ellora in Icarus suits with a Q-bomb aboard, to study a downed alien ship and find where the aliens come from. They arrive in the middle of a battle and are separated.
