Plot summary
El Callejón de los Milagros lies in downtown Mexico City, and the lives of its residents cross constantly. Don Ru, who owns the cantina where the neighborhood men drink and play dominoes, is weary of his marriage to Eusebia and drawn to a young clerk. His son Chava takes the situation badly. Abel is in love with Alma, the beautiful daughter of Doña Cata, the tarot reader. Susanita, who owns the apartment building, is looking for a husband, and Güicho works at the cantina. The story unfolds in chapters that each return to the same domino game and follow one resident's point of view.
