Plot summary
Federico takes luck from other people by laying a hand on them, and he works for Sam, a concentration camp survivor who runs a European casino and has never lost. When the two fall out and Sam cuts Federico off, Federico goes hunting for Tomás, a young thief who walked away from a plane crash as the only survivor. Federico believes Tomás carries enough luck to beat Sam at his own game. He puts Tomás through a series of tests to see what the man can do, and the pair move toward the private games where players risk their lives. Sara, a policewoman who survived the crash that killed her family, follows close behind them.
