Plot summary

A professor at a university lab has cloned a cell, using DNA taken from a meteorite, and Craig Milford, who reports for a Miami television station, is sent there to do a story about it. Milford leaves the campus, and soon afterward a gunman enters the laboratory, kills the people inside and carries the cell away for a wealthy businessman. Milford learns he is also a target, so he asks two scientists for help. Together they want to know who ordered the killings, what the stolen cell is wanted for, and whether the cell should be kept alive.
