Plot summary
In 2003, Chaank Armaments sells more weapons and military hardware than any other company. Its cybernetic supersoldier, Hard Man, malfunctions at a diner and kills the people there; security staff under John Carpenter restrain it. The outcry lands on Hayden Cale, the new chief executive, and she wants the project's failures made public and its developer, Jack Dante, dismissed. Chairman Scott Ridley prefers to keep the incident and the project's problems quiet so Chaank's contracts hold. A junior executive tells Cale about Dante's conduct and about Nicholson, her predecessor. Cale asks Dante what he is doing in Vault 10, and he replies by threatening her with details of her private life. Ridley refuses to help her, so she takes his access card. Eco-activists Raimi, Weyland and Yutani get into the building to destroy its records.
