Plot summary
Max Winslow is a high school student who spends her time on computers and whose family is short on money. She and four classmates, Sophia Peach, Aiden Ross, Benny Carrasco and Connor Lawson, are picked by scientist Atticus Virtue to spend a night in his AI-run mansion and compete for it. A limo takes them there, and HAVEN, the house system, welcomes them and serves food. Virtue appears as a hologram to say he is away on business. When the lights go out and the door locks, the teenagers learn they must crack a six-digit code to get out, and the first puzzle is solved with the help of Max's counting. Then the group splits up to explore the house.
